Yesterday’s chatter concerning the administration of justice left my heart bloated in sincerity. I donate a lot of mental capacity towards the admiration and thanksgiving for the courageous among us.
To fight for self-preservation is the toil of all men, to fight for the preservation of others is the privilege of the great.
This week’s news of a courageous act must never be overshadowed by agenda. A man died. A nation rejoiced. Lost somewhere in the hellish prelude to celebratory chants and gatherings, someone stood in between the rhetoric and pulled the trigger of courage and responsibility. As a nation we have the opportunity to be defined by our response. Will we be known as a people who rally around death or a people inspired by courage?
To all of the men and women who serve selflessly a cause greater than themselves, I stand in the name of honor and humble appreciation. Your cross is a burden not measurable by right and wrong, but rather by necessity. A man died. A nation rejoiced…
“God will not have his work made manifest by cowards.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
